Esfahan Steel Company's production has increased significantly and is expected that by March next year the company would produce over 2.750 million tons of steel products.

He said that "the production level of the company in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (started March 21) exceeded 914,000 tons, which marks a good growth compared to the corresponding figure of the previous year."

On his company's current balance plan, he noted: "The plan is aimed at balancing production capacity among various sections of the production line and increasing annual production capacity of molten cast iron from 2.2 million to 3.6 million tons. The executive phase of the plan has had 88.6 percent progress so far.”

Several major projects have recently come on line in Iran's steel industry.

In early July, a major steel project came on stream in the city of Bonab in the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan and phase three of a major steel complex was inaugurated in the city of Natanz in the central Iranian province of Isfahan on June 28.

According to World Steel Association, Iran is the second steel producer in the Middle East. The steel production of the country rose by 2.7 percent in the first 6 months of 2010 to 5.9 million tons.
