Eighteen Indonesian food producers are displaying their various premium products at the Salon International d’Alimentation (SIAL), a five-day global food trade fair in Paris and which is held every two years, from Oct. 21.
The companies occupy the 180-square-meter Indonesian Pavilion established by the Indonesian Embassy in Paris, the Trade Ministry, the Industry Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in Milan -- at the Paris Nord Villepinte.
“Players and buyers in the food-product business from across the globe meet to develop their relationships during the event,” Agung, the head of the Indonesian Representatives in Paris, said when opening the Indonesian Pavilion at the event as quoted in a press statement received by The Jakarta Post on Monday.
Agung said Indonesian exports to the European Union amounted to US$818 million last year.
He expressed the hope that the Indonesian food producers would use the prominent event to introduce their various products and examine various innovations to develop food and beverage products in Indonesia.
Food producers taking part in the event include Kawanasi (fruit chips), Java Peppers Industries (various condiment), Manna Anugrah Sejahtera (various types of sugar), Karsa Abadi Madeteas (herbal tea), Hitara Cipta Selaras (black garlic), Biobali Internasional (organic oil), Coco Sugar Indonesia (coconut sugar), Mayora (snack producer) and Nison Indonesia (canned seafood).
In 2016, SIAL Paris attracted 160,000 visitors from 194 countries. (bbn)
